National Youth Violence Prevention Week

Today marks the first day of National Youth Violence Prevention Week (NYVPW). The National Association of Students Against Violence Everywhere (SAVE) is a founding partner of the campaign along with the Guidance Group, of the National Youth Violence Prevention Campaign. The goal of the campaign is to raise awareness and to educate the community on effective ways to prevent or reduce youth violence. This year the campaign is focusing on teen dating violence.

I am sad to say that even at 14 I have witnessed dating violence with my friends. I never really thought about it before. Domestic violence is like a man hurting a woman not some guy in school hitting his girlfriend. But one of my best friends is going through a dangerous relationship right now and she’s only 14. So it happens. I found this article and it started to make sense.
