Excellent article and video. Being a good listener is not what most people are. When you are expressing your issue(s)you can actually see in their eyes and expressions that they already want to interrupt before you can finish, and in fact, most of the time that is is exactly what they do and do not let you finish your personal story. The Sellers family are pros at this. Love You.

I am a teen dating and domestic violence advocate and founder of Daylight, Inc. I am also the Georgia-Love Is Not Abuse State Action Leader. This month I am focusing on getting information on teen dating violence out into the community so I began attending PTSA meetings and setting up information tables and distributing the information on the signs of an abusive relationships to parents and students. I plan to continue doing this throughout the year.

Life becomes so much easier after you tell your family and friends. Your family will gladly help keep you safe from an abusive boy/girl friend or even stranger. It is definitely hard to tell someone, family especially, but it’s worth it. Real friends are going to stick by you, and the support you get from these people is astounding. Your safety is worth telling someone. I know from experience.

i just want to say that this website is good for teens because of whats adults use to do when they where teens but they can learn a lot from this site to have a good and better relationships with there partners and not be hurt or pressured into what they dont want to do.

Doesn’t this mean that 43% of the women surveyed chose to be with men who were violent and abusive?
Or are they saying these women were forced to date violent and abusive men?
How does that happen on such a large scale?

When ‘abuse’ is defined to include violence along with verbal abuse and the very vague ‘controlling’ it really invalidates the study and counts as misinformation, Many women think ‘oh yeah he swore at me once when we were arguing and he said I couldn’t hang out with my ex, so yeah that counts as abusive and controlling. And no similar study of men’s experiences for comparison? Without knowing how many men report violence, verbal abuse or controlling behaviour, this is pointless and promotes the image of men as abusers, yet again.
